Sustainability

Geovent in harmony

We want to run Geovent in harmony and balance with our stakeholders and the society at large.
As part of this, we have developed a number of policies that set out the general guidelines for our business operations, including an ESG policy that addresses sustainability, occupational health and safety, among other issues.

These policies are set by the Executive Committee and approved by the Board. We are continually developing our policies and reserve the right to amend them as appropriate. The policies are embodied in the Vision, Strategies and Plans of Geovent.

Specifically, the ESG policy honors the applicable legislation, with which we always comply. Furthermore, we continuously work to support the United Nations 17 Sustainable Development Goals.

ESG policy

ESG stands for “Environmental, Social and Governance.” We work from the concept of “Sustainable Business Development”, balancing sustainability with sound business practices.
Our starting point is the applicable legislation, with which we always comply.
Furthermore, we continuously work to support the United Nations 17 Sustainable Development Goals to the extent possible.
When defining our actions, we take the SDGs as a starting point, while ensuring that our business is developing positively – in every way.
We prioritise our efforts for the SDGs according to which activities we expect will have the greatest impact based on the resources we have available.

Vision

We want to be a company that operates sustainably and in harmony with the environment.
We will have constant growth in activities while reducing our relative climate footprint.
We will make a social effort and help improve opportunities for people around us and employees of our company.
We will take care of the working environment so that fewer people get sick from going to work. We will work to improve the working environment and ensure that everyone is treated decently.

Strategy

We will use our ESG resources to achieve the greatest possible impact based on the resources we have available.

That’s why we have chosen interventions that support the SDGs where we can make the biggest impact.
Below we briefly describe which SDGs we will primarily work on. Note that some actions support more than one SDG – and some support SDGs that we have not defined as our primary focus.

We a direct reference to the UN 17 Sustainability goals
we have decided to focus on:

SDG 3 – Good health and well-being

“We must promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all”

We focus on,
• helping young people get a job, education and training, protecting workers’ rights and creating safe working environments.

We will ensure
• that more young people get a job, education and training – including those having difficulty getting a job.
• that employees in our and our stakeholders’ companies work in a healthy and good working environment under decent conditions.

SDG 8 – Decent jobs and economic growth

“We must ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all and at all ages”

We focus on,
• reducing deaths caused by pollution in and around workplaces.

We will ensure
• increased awareness of the consequences of exposure to pollution in the workplace.
• increased awareness of products that remove pollution from workplaces and products that fi lter the extracted air.
• increased use of such products.
• increased education and training in the correct use of the products.

SDG 12 – Responsible production and consumption

“We must ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns”

We focus on
• using and managing natural resources sustainably, managing chemicals and waste responsibly and reducing waste.

We will ensure
• that products reducing the carbon footprint of extraction systems are offered.
• that the use of natural resources is reduced.
• that the amount of waste is reduced.
• that the waste generated is treated responsibly.

Geovent sustainability report

We have committed to make a yearly ESG report, which describes the results of the past year and the goals and initiatives decide for the coming years.

As a part of this commitment, we have joined the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) together with more than 4,000 companies around the world.

Science based targets provide a clearly-defined pathway for companies to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, helping prevent the worst impacts of climate change and future-proof business growth.

Targets are considered ‘science-based’ if they are in line with what the latest climate science deems necessary to meet the goals of the Paris Agreement.

We have joined SBTi to ascertain that we want to make an effort to reach the Paris Agreement by reducing our CO2 emission. At the same time, we want to inspire other companies to do the same.

Being a SMV we are committed to reduce our CO2 emission in Scope 1 + 2 with 42% from 2021 till 2030. We expect to grow our business with around 80% from now till 2030 which is taken into the calculation.

The largest part of our emission, however, comes from Scope 3. We have committed ourselves to measure and register our Scope 3 emissions, and we will work on reducing this too although it is not a demand.

At the same time we will help others with reducing their CO2 emission, by sharing our knowledge and by promoting products which reduce CO2 emissions.
